Plant a Seed – and start a fun tradition at this year’s Fall Fair!

All the hard work, prepping, nurturing, enhancing projects that will become Fall Fair entries – add to that all the efforts of volunteers, and Peachland’s longest-running event is made even better.

Volunteers – a small army of them, put on the Fall Fair every year. You’ll find them in their trademark aprons the weekend of September 6 and 7, 2025. And you can be part of the Fall Fair tradition, because this friendly group of people are looking for volunteers!

“We’re looking for volunteers to be helpers in handicrafts, vegetables and needlework,” says Fall Fair president Linda Schneider. (She’s on the left, manning the Fall Fair table at the May 25 Peachland Farmers Market – look for Fall Fair volunteers every second Sunday.)

No experience is necessary to volunteer – and really, it’s a very welcoming group. Everyone is invited to their meetings.

Schneider and Fall Fair vice president Daniela Evans dropped by an April council meeting to update everyone on this year’s fair.

“Community involvement is essential and we believe it’s the recipe to our future success,” said Evans.

Groups from model railroaders to the Gellatly Nut Farm, Master Gardeners and more, are Fall Fair staples – and so are the young performers who play music / provide the background entertainment over the Fall Fair weekend.

“We’re starting to think about how the demographics are changing in Peachland and we want to make sure we’re staying aligned with those possibilities and opportunities to make this fair meaningful,” Evans said.

She added the fair wouldn’t be 106 years strong if it wasn’t for volunteers.

“Their efforts in setting up and organizing the community centre, carrying out activities, engaging with the attendees, ensures the fair runs smoothly and efficiently. We are fortunate to have 35 volunteers who come regularly to monthly meetings and we have another ten who carry out activities on that Fall Fair weekend.”

“We also rely on a fantastic group of judges who come in to enjoy all the entries and select the winning ones.”

Fall Fair planning for this year’s event started in October. There’s a ton of different committees you can join as a volunteer – anything to match your interests.

“We’re very grateful for the energy and ideas our committee members bring to the meeting and to the event.”

How to enter this year’s fair…

Indeed, longtime councillor Terry Condon was impressed with the group, saying he was “delighted” with their enthusiasm.

Mayor Patrick Van Minsel echoed that.

“From what I’m hearing all the time we’re having a lot of time finding volunteers. The amount of volunteers you have is just astonishing.”

If you want to get involved, you can show up for the next Fall Fair meeting, email the Fall Fair for more info, or check out their website!
