Welcome to The Peachland Phoenix! Here are the ground rules – consider this the official Terms and Conditions for this website:

Signing up:

In order to access local news on the website, you must create a membership account. This involves submitting a valid email address, username and method of payment. Payment via credit card is processed through PayPal or Stripe (the software & API used by millions of businesses worldwide.) The Peachland Phoenix does not see, nor handle your credit card or PayPal account info.

You can also pay for your subscription every six months or yearly via email money transfer, cash or cheque. Cash, cheque or Etransfer payments can be arranged by emailing

Your account is effective from the first time you are logged into the website. Therefore, you are responsible for your account once you log into the website and have paid for your subscription.

You are required to use a strong password in order to gain access to local news on the website. Please make this password secure (AKA hard to guess) – and do not share your password with others. If there’s a specific article you’d like to share with a non-subscriber, please ask! I’m happy to make this happen on a case-by-case basis, as long as my work is properly credited.

If you’d like to share my work, please share the link only! Copying and pasting content from The Phoenix and sharing on local Facebook groups is not allowed.

Why am I a stickler for this?

I’m subscriber-supported. So, sharing my work for free undermines my ability to provide exclusive content to those who pay for it. If you know of someone who would like to read my local news, encourage them to sign up! This ensures the Phoenix can continue providing a service to the community.

Subscription terms:

Upon signup, you will receive 30 consecutive days of free access to the local news section of The Peachland Phoenix. After that, credit card customers will be automatically billed $6 a month. Customers paying via cash, Etransfer or cheque, will be billed $36 for their six month subscription, or $72 for a full year subscription. (Monthly payments only available via credit card signups).

Customers who wish to unsubscribe can do so by logging into their account. You can also contact me at

Monthly customers: Once you unsubscribe, you will no longer be billed, and you will no longer have access to the local news section of the website.

Those who have paid via Etransfer and six month / one year customers via credit card / PayPal: You will receive a refund for the remaining full months of your subscription.

If you choose to subscribe again, you will not have another 30 free trial – payment will be due upon signup.

If you have not paid your monthly or yearly subscription within 30 days of signing up, your account will be deleted. If you wish to have access to the website, you must resubscribe.

Anyone providing a false name, email address or payment method – or anyone who provides this information with the purpose of abusing the functionality of this website will have their account(s) suspended or terminated. Likewise, anyone who shares my work without permission and / or with the purpose of undermining the growth of The Peachland Phoenix  (as determined by Kristen Friesen), will have their account(s) suspended or terminated. If you feel your account has been compromised, please notify immediately via the above email. The Peachland Phoenix Community News Ltd. cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this section.

The Advertising section and ‘More about The Phoenix’ sections of the website are free access articles and do not require a subscription to The Peachland Phoenix.

When you sign up for a subscription, you’re also signed up to receive The Peachland Phoenix’s email newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Business Profiles: Business profiles are $300 per profile and are NOT news stories / journalism. The Peachland Phoenix will interview a client about their business, take a photo and write up the business profile. Client has opportunity to make any changes, which are sent back to The Phoenix for editing. The business profile is then published on my website. Profile can be removed at at time, at my discretion (Kristen Friesen). Updates to business profiles after publication can be completed for an additional fee.

Advertising: The Peachland Phoenix will consider advertising space / paid content opportunities. Please inquire. Any display ad material created by The Peachland Phoenix and / or its design and production clients, are property of the designer & The Peachland Phoenix. Use of display ad or business profile in another publication, for public dissemination (such as event posters without prior permission & payment) are not permitted.
