Take a sec to understand where journalism is at: Gone are the days where print newspapers thrived off local advertising. There simply isn’t a demand for it, and trucking newsprint into town is expensive (and not the best environmental choice.) Basically, the previous model is broken and has been for decades. The newspaper model does not support journalism.

So, I’m doing what other professionals have done – breaking out on our own, with a slimmed-down business model that focusses on the reason reporters work so hard – to serve our readers! As mentioned in this article, it’s about making a product that’s so good, people are willing to pay for it.
