Chamber of Commerce groups across the Okanagan Valley have been putting their heads together over the past couple years: How can they help local businesses – while also assisting residents in general who need help?
Answer: A Shop Local Campaign that allows each town’s Chamber to donate gift certificates. Those gift certificates – eligible for everything from groceries at IGA, clothing and decor, Bosley’s pet store, and local restaurants like Cibo & Vines and the Blind Angler, will be sent to the Peachland food bank and the Peachland Wellness Centre, for their clients. The Peachland Chamber received $3,000 to do this!
Here’s what our Peachland Chamber of Commerce president Graham Sewell has to say:
“On behalf of our Board of Directors I would like to express our enthusiastic support for the OK We Got This campaign, a shop-local program being promoted by the Regional Chamber Coalition. This program promotes local businesses who are in desperate need of support from our community, in order to get through (what hopefully will be) the final hurdle of the 2-year long Covid pandemic.
We also encourage all residents of our community to shop local when considering their next purchase of the goods and services that we all depend upon. Please help our businesses to continue to provide these services that we all have taken for granted – together we will get through this!”
