A big hit for The Phoenix – but I’ll adapt!

2024 was The Phoenix’s best year yet for advertising. For the first time, this paid for my operational costs and made this business healthy and sustainable. In the words of one of the 24 customers who went with The Phoenix for advertising – “We’re always looking for targeted, local audiences.” And with an 80% open rate on my weekly newsletters and 24/7 visibility on my Home page (which gets thousands of views a month) – it’s a great, cost-effective option for those wanting to reach Peachlanders who support local and are really interested in what’s going on!

**Because of the volunteer-run newsprint project (Peachland Post) – as of December 31, 2024 I have lost all my main advertisers (except for the District of Peachland.) So, it’s time to pivot! While I’ll still have space for those who want to place an ad, I’ll need a different approach to cover operational costs in 2025. This will allow individuals, groups and businesses who value journalism to directly help this small business survive. I’m at a point where subscription revenue alone isn’t enough – so as I build those numbers with solid local news stories, I need help!

Stay tuned for a new Sponsor Page, coming later in January!

The Phoenix is a business based on journalism – and while most of my advertisers have left, I’m reminded that relying on an advertising-based model is the reason local newspapers are dead. Ask any professional journalist, and this is a fact.

Your funds go directly towards operational costs, allowing The Phoenix to survive. Unlike the new print product, I do not have a Beach Ave office (let alone a house on Beach Ave!), no out of town staff to pay for, and I’m not paying to truck newsprint into town. For The Phoenix, those personal funds don’t exist.

The Phoenix is set up to support local journalism. I’m hoping with your support, we can illustrate that quality, made-in-Peachland news stories – journalism – is what matters.
