How have you coped during COVID? The Peachland Recovery Task Force wanted to know, so they can help plan different things to support the community.
There’s a general sense of stress and anxiety amongst those polled – but of the 128 or so people surveyed by the PRTF, walking the dog, attending drive-by birthday parties and other events, along with at-home hobbies have helped.
It’s clear some people really enjoy getting out when they can – so the PRTF wants to do another drive-in movie at Turner Park this summer, says Madeleine Nixon.
“Yes, it’s going to be a go this summer in Turner Park,” she said during a phone call this morning.
“But we were very lucky last year because Fortis BC sponsored our movie in the park and this year they’re unable to do that so we need to raise money.”
About $6,000 is needed to make a weekend movie night happen at the park. The PRTF is thankful to the Peachland Fall Fair, who just donated $500 towards making it happen. The 2021 fall fair, as you know, has been cancelled.
There’s a couple more ideas in the cooker, says Nixon.
“This survey has given us a bit of direction, really as to what things we need to pay attention to and where the gaps possibly might be. I’m not sure if many other communities have done like a covid check in survey.”
Here are the results! (I just copied and pasted from the actual survey, so that’s why it looks the way it does. If you want a hard copy, let me know).
114 Online responses were received. A total of 14 paper responses were collected from Seniors at residences on 6th.
Survey was conducted between March 7th and May 15th, 2021.
