Monday’s Federal election..

No surprises here in the Central Okanagan-SImilkameen-Nicola riding, where Dan Albas will keep his job as Conservative MP. It’s just after 10:30 p.m. as I type, and 90%, AKA 225 of 247 polling station results are in:

Albas has 25,393 votes (45.6%)

Liberal candidate Sarah Eves, 13,371 votes (24%)

NDP candidate Joan Philip, 11,416 votes (20.5%)

People’s Party – PPC candidate Kathryn Mcdonald, 4,054 votes (7.3%)

Green Party Brennan Wauters, 1,471 votes (2.6%)

* And nationwide, major networks declared a Liberal victory – 25 minutes after polls closed here in BC.

Election night at the Calgary Sun was one of my favourites. We had a J. Jonah Jameson quarterback at the Desk, reporters phoned in their copy, the Rim fit in all in, it went to press – and after, there was newsroom pizza & of course a midnight trip to some crappy pub. Best days ever! It’s still fun
