Turner Park is such a mismanaged snowball.
I worked for almost 40 years in the architectural world. Here’s my suggestion:
Take Cousins park and put it in Turner Park, complete with adequate parking. Or up on Cousins road (one would have to appropriate the property).
Offer Cousins Park to developers who can provide us a beautiful new, pedestrian friendly downtown hub, complete with lovely commercial/ office space (yes, it can be done), a small hotel (number one complaint from tourists) AFFORDABLE apartments and townhouses, maybe some cafe patios, maybe a fountain, and TREES. Something lovely… not little builder’s boxes…
Our little town seems to suffer from a lack of vision. Just because we’re perched on the saddle of a mountain, overlooking a lovely lake, doesn’t mean our town will thrive. If we don’t invest in a vision, the town will go the way of all one-horse towns… to the knacker’s yard. Think of all the lovely European towns on lakes, and you’ll get my drift. We need clarity, not confusion. The water treatment plant and splash park are cases in point. (Where will all the splashers park – especially on market day?)
Just my 2 1/2 cents.
Thanks,
