Breaking: Green light for Phase 2 of seniors housing in Peachland

Here’s a press release I just received from the Peachland Seniors Support Society. Will make some phone calls and flesh this out some more…

The Board of Directors of the Peachland Seniors Support Society is delighted to announce that its proposal to build a second phase of the seniors’ housing project known as ‘Residences on 6th’ has been selected to proceed under the BC Housing, Community Housing Fund.

The new five storey building will be constructed on the District of Peachland owned property immediately adjacent to  the Phase 1 project and will consist of 68 residential units of which 58 will be one bedroom and 10 two bedroom.  The target population is seniors age 55+ who need affordable rental housing and access to services that will support independent living.

Construction is estimated to take 18 months from start-up and will begin once all necessary planning and tendering processes have been completed.  Occupancy is targeted for early 2024.

The Board wishes to thank the District of Peachland for making this possible through the provision of land for the project.
