Ignore the rain this morning – Our Town Crier and some special guests are celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee this afternoon! If you head over to the Rotary gazebo downtown around 2:45 or so, there will be a small parade of dignitaries (including Peachlander and food bank manager Judy Bedford, who Bruce says has been awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Award!). Classic British vehicles (including the 1951 Cadillac the future Queen rode in during her 1951 BC tour), plus our 1947 fire truck will be on display. Another special guest is Carl Zanon, who as a 16 year-old cadet, was at the Queen’s coronation back on June 2, 1953. Starting around 3, a short program will begin, followed by cake! Everyone is invited to attend.
Then, starting at 4, an annual event is back – the Peachland Elementary Carnival! It takes lots of parent-power to pull this thing off. There will be food (plus, slushies and cotton candy!), bouncy castles, live entertainment, the traditional favourite cake walk, and prizes. This all happens at the school and wraps up at 7 p.m:
